Cambistat “gently” slows tree growth, and can actually make trees more drought resistant by “redirecting energy normally spent on growth” into making leaves thicker and greener and roots stronger. We use Cambistat to help plants stricken with disease to become stronger.
Fungal pathogens like cytospora canker, Stigmina needle cast and Rhizosphaera needle cast of spruce are good examples where we might use this treatment. These infections come on over time until the needles turn a brownish purple color and fall off the tree. This causes severe needle loss and then death of twigs and branches and slowly the entire plant. These diseases usually appear as the spruce ages, similar to how humans are more susceptible to disease as they age, so slowing down the energy that would normally go to new growth and redirecting it to more abundant and stronger leaves and stronger roots can breath new life into the plants. |
